Lots of exciting news these days. Last week I shared about my upcoming retreat in Panama next spring.
And now this week… Ta dah! After just a few short years, my new book is ready!
It’s called Not Your Mama’s Self-Care Guide (because she probably had none so you should read this).
I wrote this book a few years back and had the inner guidance to sit on it for awhile.
(Yep, that’s what I’ve been doing in my spare time - sitting on a book. It’s a little awkward, to say the least.)
Now, for whatever reason, I’m ready to get it out there and I’m trusting that the people who will benefit from reading it are ready too.
Check out this cover - it makes me laugh every time I look at it.
What’s it about? (you might ask)
It’s a practical and humourous guide to implementing strategic self-care that moves the needle, mostly from the inside out so that high-achieving women can be productive and peaceful at the same time.
Plus, it’s filled with drawings I did myself - various stick figures, diagrams, bananas, campfires, a spray can of gratitude and what’s meant to be a hamster on a wheel (but it sure didn’t turn out that way).
I kept myself quite entertained trying to get my hand to draw what I saw in my head.
Who’s it for? (you might also ask)
The woman who needs this book knows that she wants to take better care of herself. She’s heard as much from her doctor, energy healer, social media and favourite podcasts.
And the thing is, she’s trying. She’s trying to pack in all the things; the yoga and meditation and pedicures and healthy eating and journaling. In fact, her to-do list has gotten longer since she started adding all the expert-recommended practices. Her efforts have been sporadic and she doesn't really know if they are paying off. She’s still on the go all the time and regularly dozes off during savasana (hopefully not snoring in class, no one has said anything…)
She has the feeling that self-care is what she’s seeking, but up until now, it’s just been a series of vague attempts. The thing she doesn’t want to do is add more “work” to her life. She’s ready to lighten up, have some fun and feel like she did back in the days when there were fewer obligations.
There are some energetic patterns in her life, some habitual ways of showing up that aren’t serving her. She feels blocked in several areas and doesn’t know where to turn next. She wants to bolster her courage, care less about what others think of her and start behaving in a way that honours who she really wants to become. She’s looking for a step-by-step process that’s simple to implement and that’s something she can easily incorporate into her day.
Ultimately, she’s looking for guidance on how to fit all the goodness she craves into her life so that she has overflowing energy and love for her community, her work, her loved ones and herself.
If you know someone like that (or that someone is you) (or you just want to see my hilarious unskilled drawings that I’m willing to share with the world), the book is now available for order.
It’s on Kindle if you like screen reading and if you prefer to hold a book in your hands, that’s an option too.
I’ll put a couple of links here for Amazon in the US and Canada. If you’re in some other part of the big wide world, you can just go to Amazon and type the title into the search bar. I’m pretty sure it will show up in your neck of the woods. (If not, please let me know!)
One more cool thing
Once you have the book, there are complimentary gifts included like some short, sweet and powerful meditations and several playlists of curated music for embodying the four different Courageous Self-Care Energies (Vennergies actually - they’re explained in the book). There’s also a behind-the-scenes account of making the cover (which makes me laugh everytime I see it).
Where can I order it? (another great question)
In Canada or the US, click the applicable link below:
Thank you for reading! As always, I appreciate you.
Stay tuned next week for a fake interview excerpt!
With mirthful love and waggish courage,
Christina

I adore the cello. Once upon a time I thought I would learn it and then I realized that I would rather just listen and enjoy and save myself 4 decades of practicing.
While I was writing about this song, it was playing on my computer and my husband and son both commented on it. “Very peaceful,” said 16 year old Oakley.
That it is. It’s just gorgeous.
Please check out Sunset by Cellomano.
Just copy and paste that into your search bar and you’ll be able to listen on your favourite streaming service.
No learning the cello required. Just peace and gorgeousness.
