I’ve become disgusting

Oct 22, 2024

Yes, it’s true, I’ve become disgusting.

Here’s my little story about transforming judgement into freedom.

Once upon a time (a couple of weeks ago), I was out for a walk when a jogger ran past me and along the way, closed one of his nostrils and blew out the other freestyle into the air. So gross!

Obviously, it’s not the first time I’ve seen that but on this occasion, it really caught my attention because… so gross! And so close to me, thereby amplifying the grossness.

Then, a few days later, I myself was on a run and my nose wanted to get in on the action, so it started running too. Even though I had done a Neti pot prior to leaving (which usually means a nice clear nasal passage), I was sniffing with every exhale.

It didn’t work well with my nose breathing run.

The thought crossed my mind that I could do the freedom nose blow but “No!” I said to that part of my mind. “That’s disgusting. I just couldn’t.”

Yet my nose kept running and I hadn’t brought a hankie.

A wrestling match ensued in my head.

Just do it!

No! It’s so gross!

It will feel so much better!

But it’s disgusting!

But try it anyway! No one’s even around. And it’s still dark out.

Eventually, I got convinced by myself to go for it and give it a try.

And that’s how I became disgusting because guess what?

It was totally liberating! And convenient! And easy!

I confess that I’ve done it many times since (always being sure that no one is around and definitely not letting it fly onto people’s lawns - I still have some standards within the disgusting).

So that’s how I released my judgement and found a small but significant slice of freedom.

Which is just a good life lesson. On the other side of judgement - at least in some cases - is where freedom resides. We just have to be willing to let go.

Is there anything you could release, even just as an experiment, to claim more freedom in your life? It’s a question worth asking.

(A piece of my cookie just fell on the cafe floor which is super disappointing but, don’t worry, I didn’t eat it. I’m not that brand of disgusting - even though it was a fantastic cookie.)

Wishing you a week of newfound freedom (with or without the disgusting factor).

With unrestrained love and obnoxious courage,

Christina

Do you juice lemons regularly?

We make a ginger lemon honey drink every morning and this tool has made it so much easier and more pleasant.

I LOVE this lemon juicer!

It’s a gamechanger, as far as juicers go.

It’s a squeezer which just feels so much easier. Plus, it gets out far more juice than other contraptions I’ve tried AND it also holds most/all of the seeds so no fishing them out.

Then a quick rinse and it’s clean.

Also, it’s flat, taking up far less room in the cupboard/drawer. That’s why it’s called a fluicer; flat + juicer = fluicer. (I’m not positive on the pronunciation but that’s fine because you’re reading and not listening to me try to say it.)

Not only that, it’s sturdy and robust. We use it several times a day and it’s just as strong and intact as the day we got it.

If you’re in the market for a lemon juicer, look no further.

We got ours at Lee Valley. It’s called the Dreamfarm Fluicer.

Oh, and it’s great for limes too. Not oranges because there’s a bigger version of the juicer for those. (We tried oranges and they’re just too big, resulting in orange juice flying into our eyes and all over the counter.)

Get yours today!

I could totally do a great infomercial for the Dreamfarm fluicer. They should hire me. Everyone would laugh at my enthusiasm and be greatly entertained.

We’re not doing a song this week because I have exciting news to share with you.

My daughter, Zoe, is in a movie that’s coming out this week!!!

Therefore, the movie of the week is called One Million Followers and it gets released on October 25th.

Maybe on Amazon Prime? We’re not positive. I’ll keep you posted.

For now, you can watch the trailer by clicking the link below. Zoe doesn’t appear in it but she’s the narrator so that’s her lovely voice you’ll hear.

Zoe will be attending a red carpet movie premiere in LA! I’m so, so excited for her. It’s the best when your kids’ dreams come true.

Hopefully, I’ll have photos to share next week.

(And FYI, there aren’t any zombies in this movie so that’s nice for people like me who don’t love zombies. Just in case you didn’t know, Zoe had a lead role in the Netflix series Black Summer which is why I’m talking about zombies. So no zombies in this movie. I’ll be able to watch it with my eyes open.)
