How's your self-worth?

Do you ever think about your self-worth?

Do you find yourself feeling like you're not enough?

Are you aware of how much your self-worth determines your outcomes in life?

If you have the subconscious belief that you're not enough, it will impact absolutely every moment of your life. Your relationships, your career, your income, your ability to love; every aspect of your life is influenced by your perceived self-worth and sense of deserving. 

More than 99% of people in the world have the erroneous belief that they are not enough. For most people, it gets picked up along the way, somewhere in childhood. The crazy thing is that despite this belief being so common and so impactful, for the most part, it goes unnoticed and unexamined.

People wonder why they self-sabotage, why they don't feel fulfilled, or why they don't get treated well, but they don't tend to get to the root of the issue. Things don't go how they want, they briefly wonder why, and then they go watch Netflix. 

If your self-worth affects absolutely every area of your life, wouldn't it be worth your time and attention to improve it? I think so too. 

As soon as I knew there was a thing called self-worth, I was very motivated to learn how to improve it. I didn't want to be like 99.9% of people who wander through life feeling dissatisfied, unlovable, or undervalued. 

Thanks to my self-worth enthusiasm, I can now say that I totally and completely love myself unconditionally. I see myself as a gift and know that I am precious and rare. I treat myself with kindness, gentleness, and compassion. And let me tell you, life is so much better!

Here are three things that have made a difference for me when it comes to self-worth, enoughness and deservability:

1- Make a Decision and Own It

You can either spend heaps of time and energy bemoaning the fact that you feel like you're not enough, telling anyone who will listen OR you can make a decision. You can decide that you are enough. You're that powerful. You can just declare it. 

How do you know you're deserving of all that you desire? Byron Katie said, "If you're breathing, you're deserving."

The End! You don't need to spend another moment thinking, ruminating, or pondering. You're breathing so you're deserving. Point blank. When I heard that fantastic statement, I made the decision to be enough and that was that. 

2- Your Level of Treatment

For some people, point 1 will be enough and they will change their beliefs about self-worth. For others, it will take a little more effort (which is still so worth it). 

If you don't like how others treat you, here's a hard truth. People will treat you one level better than you treat yourself. Ouch, right? You can't hide from that truth. 

So, how do you treat yourself better? First, you become aware of what your internal voice is saying to you. If it says unkind things, then it's up to you to notice and make a change.

If your inner voice says that you're weak, then you use your bigger inner voice to say, "That's not true. Actually, I'm incredibly strong." Then you think of an example and you celebrate your strength.

Or, if your inner voice says that you never get anything right, then you use your bigger inner voice to say, "Actually, that's not true. I get lots of things right." Then you think of an example and celebrate your achievements.

Get the idea?

This strategy is completely up to you. You decide that you're going to use your thoughts to your advantage and then you take action. Does it take practice? For sure! Will you be perfect at it right away? Nope. But it's doable and life on the other side is so much better.

3- Unify Mind, Body, and Breath

Beliefs, like any other issue in your life, are only an indication of stuck energy. That's it. If you have a belief that's not serving you, it's just stuck energy and to shift it, you just need to get that energy flowing.

How? I've said it before, and I'll say it again. To get stuck energy moving, we must (and yes, it's a must) unify our mind, body, and breath. Consciously. It's not just going to happen by itself. 

We must be intentional to get that energy flowing. 

How? Here are the three options that have worked the best, in my experience.

Option 1: Find a healing modality where you are an active participant

In most healing situations, you basically lie there and say, "Fix me." While this approach is easy and can feel good, it's not a permanent solution. It's more like a bandaid fix. The energy moves temporarily but then goes back to how it was. 

To really shift things, you must become an active participant where you're not abdicating your responsibility. It's your body, your energy, and your beliefs, so you should be involved, right?

My preferred healing modality is the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST). The recipient is an active part of the process so the results are profound, speedy, and permanent. 

Option 2: Do Yoga where the focus is unifying mind, body, and breath

Isn't that all yoga, one might wonder? Surprisingly, no. While all yoga is good yoga and some yoga is better than no yoga, most yoga schools and trainings don't actually teach about unifying mind, body, and breath. The main point of yoga - getting prana (lifeforce) flowing - has gotten lost in translation. 

So how does one find this union and get stuck energy flowing? The simplest answer is that while you're in a posture, you also want to follow the flow of the breath through the body with the mind. Doing so brings union (which is what the word yoga actually means) and gets stuck energy flowing.

Can yoga improve self-worth and result in you knowing that you're enough? Most definitely, yes. As long as conscious breathing is a part of the yoga, then you're getting the full benefit.

Option 3: Conscious Somatic Breathing

For time and energy invested, there is nothing like conscious breathwork. You can resolve a lifelong issue in under two hours. Why? Because it gets stuck energy moving quickly. The body knows what it's ready to release and when you give it permission to be your guide, it lets go of what's no longer serving. Permanently. 

Why isn't everyone doing it then? 

➡️ It's uncomfortable.

➡️ You're going into the unknown (which is the ego's greatest fear).

➡️ You're feeling the feelings that have been suppressed (which most people actively avoid at all costs). 

But for those who are willing to get uncomfortable, face their fears, and feel the feelings, the rewards are unparalleled. 

I can't recommend somatic breathwork enough. It changes everything for the better. People rave about it for a reason. It's like going through a door and then realizing that everything you wanted is there waiting for you.
