It’s Official! (and I never thought this would happen)

Uncategorized Feb 01, 2022

Although I don’t have the documents in hand (because they are being mailed from the US and lately that means about a 3.7 month wait) I recently completed my certification to be a Body Awake Yoga Instructor. Let me tell you why that’s a surprising statement that I never imagined saying (or typing).

For approximately 20 years (maybe more) I tried very hard to love yoga. I heard that it was so good for you and since I generally like things that are good for me, I signed up for classes. All the classes I could find.

I tried Mysore, Ashtanga, Restorative, Pre-Natal, Flow, Vinyasa, Yin, Iyengar, Power Yoga; even Yoga for Dummies. (I feel like Bubba relaying all the ways to cook shrimp to his good friend Forrest Gump. I did Mysore Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga and Restorative Yoga…)

And guess what happened? I didn’t like it. Plus, I always seemed to get injured. Even in Pre-Natal yoga (how is that even possible?). One time, I decided to just do sun salutations in the morning and after a week, my hip hurt so badly I could hardly walk. I stopped saluting the sun.

At some point, I decided yoga just wasn’t for me. And yet, I would meet people and they were certain I was a yogi. After all, I’m all about mind, body and spirit, but my love for yoga remained elusive.

That is, until I discovered Body Awake Yoga. In March of 2020, my mentor, Dr Sue Morter started offering online yoga classes. For the first time, I felt like I was getting the whole picture. I realized that I had always felt like there was something missing from the yoga classes I’d attended.

With Body Awake Yoga, I said to myself: This is what yoga is supposed to feel like!

I actually wanted to do yoga several times a week and I’ve been doing so ever since (without injuries).

In February 2021, an opportunity arose to get certified to teach Body Awake Yoga. For some reason, which was unknown to me, I felt called to join the program. I didn’t know why. I didn’t particularly want to teach yoga, but I followed my mysterious intuition.

Now, a year later, after a pretty intense commitment, I’m thrilled to say that I’m certified! And, funny enough, somewhere along the way I realized that I can’t keep it to myself. I’ve seen so many benefits in my life from BAY (body awake yoga) that it would be selfish to not share it.

Here are some things I’ve noticed as a result of doing this type of yoga regularly:

>being less reactive

>feeling amazing in my body

>incredible quality of sleep

>lots and lots of energy

>increased flexibility

>my socks fit better (I think my ankles got thinner!)

>admiration from my husband of my ‘yoga bootie’

>less need to be right

>decreased perfectionistic tendencies

>less menstrual cramps and longer cycle (woohoo!)

>increased abundance and prosperity

>feeling more fulfilled and purposeful

>more grace in life

I could go on, but that’s a good start. Pretty much everything in my life has gotten better in some way.

Because of all the goodness, my question lately has been: how can I share Body Awake Yoga with people?

The obvious answer these days is: Zoom!

At some point, I’ll design a membership program with several classes each month. For now, though, I want to give you a little taster, if you’re feeling so inclined.

On Friday, February 18, you’re invited to a complimentary community Body Awake Yoga class. There’s no cost for this class. I want to give you the amazing gift of awakening the prana (life force) in your body.

Details:

Time - 9am Mountain (8am Pacific)

Duration - 1 hour (approximately)

Cost: none, it’s a gift :)

Date - Friday February 18

If you can’t attend live, please register anyway and I’ll send you the link to the replay.

You don’t need any experience; just a desire to feel oh-so-amazing from uniting mind, body and breath.

If you’re a heartfelt yes, click this link to register and you’ll get the link to join plus other helpful details by email.

I’m very excited to get the ball rolling on this yoga thing. It simply makes life better in every way. As Dr Sue says, there’s nothing more important or valuable you can do in your day.

I hope to see you there. (And by the way, you don’t need to be on camera for the class, you’re welcome to go totally incognito.)

With flexible love and expanding courage,

Christina
