Why you’re probably doing better than you thought

Uncategorized Mar 07, 2023

When I work with clients, we generally start our sessions by celebrating wins and miracles. Why?

Several reasons actually.

1- What you focus on expands so when you start off with wins and miracles, you’re making yourself more magnetic to more wins and miracles, which just makes good sense.

2- We’re looking for things that have shifted because that’s an indication of growth and expansion on an inner level.

3- When things shift on the inside, they show up in the outer world. The key to this point is that generally, when things shift in the inner world, we attribute the changes to something outside of us, but guess what?!?

When things shift in your outer world, it’s always a direct result of something that’s happened on the inside.

That’s why you’re probably doing better than you thought.

For instance, last summer, my 14-year-old son, Oakley went from a hard no to doing yoga with me to attending some live classes together, even at 6am! It seemed like magic but what really happened is that something shifted inside of me and it showed up in my outer world in that wonderful way.

It’s fairly obvious to celebrate that we got to do some yoga together, but what I also paused to acknowledge was my inner growth that lead to the outer circumstance.

Another example is with my beloved husband, Paul. I’m not really a “make a to-do list for my husband” kind of wife and I definitely don’t nag him to get stuff done. That approach has meant that sometimes I have wanted him to do stuff around the house and have had to wait for a very long time.

That changed with our move last August. Something shifted and now he is taking action on all sorts of projects. Most recently, he put up 2 gorgeous planks of live edge wood with hooks on them at our front entrance so now we have ample space to hang backpacks, purses and coats. Plus he swapped out a fairly hideous toilet seat for a nice shiny white new one. Next up he’s going to make benches for our table. I’m thrilled by this shift.

In the outer world, it’s very nice to have these upgrades and his sunny attitude toward getting them done. And, I also celebrate myself because his shift really means that something inside me changed to allow in all this good. It’s an inner upgrade that has happy results in the outer world too.

Do you see how that works?

Whenever something gets better in your life, it’s not happenstance. It’s because of you. Hopefully, you’re getting the point that you’re doing better than you thought and that there’s even more to celebrate than you realized.

The last point here is that whenever there’s a shift, I attribute it to my daily practices. Every day I spend time cultivating great energy through breathwork, meditation, yoga, writing and mindful movement. I know for sure that those practices make a difference and when I credit them for the shifts, it helps me want to continue to do the practices.

Next time something changes in your outer world, take a moment to acknowledge yourself for it, even if it feels totally unrelated. Nothing can improve without an inner shift taking place and that’s all you, baby. Yay you!

May you have a week filled with magical shifts, both inside and out.

With glorious love and commendable courage,

Christina

The Antidote to Overwhelm

If you feel like:

  • you’re always on the go
  • that your life is very busy and stressful
  • there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day
  • you kind of have that ‘wind-blown look’

… then you’re invited to the upcoming ¼ Year Review so that you get a handle on things.

One of the key teachings in Courageous Self-Care is to create a better relationship with time, and one way to do that is to look to the past with gratitude (rather than regret and doubt) and towards the future with anticipation and excitement (rather than fear and worry).

On Saturday, March 18, I’m hosting a 90-minute workshop-style call, where you’ll get practical experience in honouring what has already happened so far this year, and then we’ll set some intentions for the next quarter of 2023 so that you know what to do next.

You can expect to leave the call with:

  • Increased clarity (so you can make plans that align with your values and thus feel more fulfilled)
  • More energy (because we’ll be doing fun things like dancing and celebrating)
  • A sense of refreshment (because we’ll be taking a break from all the go-go-GO!)
  • The realization that you’ve had more success than you gave yourself credit for

You’ll also feel so organized and proud of yourself for taking action towards the life you really want to be living.
