My Terrifying/Enlivening Idea That Changed the Course of (my) History

May 24, 2019

Did I tell you that I'm writing a book?

Well, actually 5 books.

I thought I was going to write one, and it's been percolating for a few years now, but as it turns out, it's going to be 5.

Here's what happened:

January 2019

I was super gung-ho with my plans for the new year. I had visions and flow charts and pages of notes on how I was going to move forward with my online program, and coaching and so on.

I started working the plan.

Mid-January 2019

My intuition (and my astute energy healer) informed me that my plan was not going to go as planned. You know the saying, "You make plans and God laughs"? Gales of cosmic laughter coming my way.

I joined in the laughter and released the plan. Very soon afterwards, a new idea came my way. A big idea. A very scary idea.

At first I kept it a secret because it seemed so audacious, but I've become friends with the idea and am feeling effusive about putting it out into the world. Want to know what it is? I'm assuming you're giving me the go-ahead nod and an encouraging smile.

The Big Idea

5 books!

Book #1: (which I've completed the first draft- yay!) Not Your Mama's Self-Care Guide (because she had none, so you should read this)

A step-by-step guide on how to take self-care from a vague idea into a series of skill sets you can easily incorporate into your life.

Book #2: The Courageous Self-Care Book of Action

A companion book to book #1, filled with 3-day challenges to help you deepen and master the 12 Courageous Self-Care Skill Sets.

Book #3: A novel! In which a 30-something-mom named Danica finds the first 2 books and starts working through them. This book wants to be a hilarious and poignant account of what happens when Danica learns the Courageous Self-Care skill sets.

Book #4: Another novel! Danica is so thrilled with her transformation that she convinces her mom, Edna, to read books 1 & 2. Edna has her own self-care adventures, from an empty-nester-senior point of view.

Book #5: Novel the third! Self-Care pros Danica and Edna convince Danica's teenage daughter, Solène (it just took me 5 minutes to figure out how to do that accent over the e!) to read books 1 & 2 and so we get to experience her teenager-y sarcasm and resistance to the work that turns out to be better than she anticipated.

Voilà! 3 generations of Courageous Self-Care.

But wait, there's more...

Here's where the idea really got out of control. The 3 novels decided that they wanted to become a One Woman Show! That I would write and perform! What the heck? I took one acting class last fall and now I'm going to do a One Woman Show? Apparently yes.

February 2019

I went to chat with the studio director where I took my beginner acting class and told him my audacious plan. He didn't seem to think it was ridiculous. I asked him what I should do next and he invited me into the Advanced Scene Study Class.

February - May 2019

Book writing. Scene studying. Acknowledging the metric ton of doubts my dear Ego keeps fabricating and choosing instead to honour my intuition and inner guidance.

So... now you know all my secrets. Well, actually, there's a couple more I can think of but I'll save those for next time. Another few intuitive curve balls were thrown my way regarding the books and the One Woman Show. Stay tuned...

The Main Point

I'm sharing all this with you, because this whole fantastic fiasco started when I considered my answer to the following question. (It's nothing new, but it is a question worth considering.)

If you could do anything you wanted with your life and be guaranteed of 100% success, what would you do?

That question really showed me where I was off track and guided me to more happiness (and fear, but that's ok. Big dreams should be scary.)

I invite you to ask yourself that very question and see what comes up for you. It really helps you tune into your heart's desires and gives you an opportunity to flex that intuitive muscle.

Until next time. Have a most delightful weekend.

With heaps of love and an acre of courage,

Christina

PS - I recorded this week's podcast in my storage/laundry room. I thought the sound quality in there would be exceptional. I think it worked out well. (That is the kind of glamorous insider info only available to those willing to read my entire message!
