How to Heal a Sore Throat (in 1 night! with no medication!)

Uncategorized Mar 26, 2024

I just got back from a little unexpected voyage to the wilds of British Columbia where it’s already spring! It was such a wonderful preview (now that I’m back in full-on winter conditions). Here's a vibrant memory.

While I was there, I woke up in the middle of the first night to something that shocked me - a slightly sore throat.

I never get sick so I almost went into denial but that’s never helped in the past so that was not a viable option.

I was a little dismayed because I’d left my propolis and goldenseal at home (our family’s go-to’s for immune boosting). My mind worked out a slightly hazy plan whereby I could order them online and have them within a day or two.

However, I didn’t want to wait a day or two (nor did I want to get on a screen in the middle of the night), and I wanted to take immediate action because the sooner you deal with a sore throat, the better. Here are the steps that did the trick.

Step 1

I had bought some thyme so I got up to make some thyme tea. (Thyme is a powerful anti-viral. Plus it makes a lovely tea.)

Thyme Tea Recipe (from Anthony Williams/Medical Medium)

1 tsp dried thyme or a couple of sprigs of fresh

Steep in boiled water for a few minutes

Optional: add the juice of 1 lemon

Optional: add some honey

(I add the options because yum.)

Step 2

While I waited for the water to boil, I did some very invigorating Central Channel Breathing (as taught by Dr Sue Morter).

You want to breathe so vigorously that within a few minutes, you notice a light sweat either on your chest or back.

Because a sore throat is an activation of the throat chakra (meaning that your brilliant energy system is trying to get you to notice that particular area), I squeezed my throat every time the breath passed through. (Ujai breathing if you’re familiar with that.)

It took about 5 minutes or so if you’re looking for a number.

Step 3

While I waited for the tea to cool down, I did some yoga postures that focus on the throat chakra.

I did 3 or 4 full Central Channel Breaths in each of the following postures, focusing on getting the energy/breath moving through the throat:

Plough pose

Cobra

Rabbit

Child’s pose

Then I drank the tea and went back to bed.

Step 4

Lastly, I set the intention to feel all better by morning. (I am so grateful that my throat is feeling back to normal when I wake up.)

And that’s just what happened. I didn’t even need to order the propolis or goldenseal.

I love that we don’t have to worry about getting sick. We have the power to notice where the body is wanting us to pay attention and then take action to get the breath/energy moving through that area.

Two Other Bonus Tips

1- You have to catch it early. You can’t go into denial or explain it away. The sooner you act, the easier it is to help whatever it is move through before it takes hold.

2- Many years ago, I learned to reprogram my subconscious in order to be healthier.

Here’s what you do:

Say this mantra 100x/day for 100 days: I am strong and healthy.

That’s it. Of course, 100 days is a bit of a commitment, but it’s certainly been worth it.

I hope today’s message has been helpful for you.

Here’s to being strong, healthy and empowered.

With invigorating love and robust courage,

> Unreasonably annoyed about this “new weather” on my iPhone weather app called Haze. Last time I checked, when snow is falling from the sky, it’s called s-n-o-w-i-n-g. Why is it now called haze? And who gets to decide these things? Snow is not haze. Haze is not snow. Bring back snow!

>90% sure I’m going to offer a 4-week course called Inner Peace for Global Peace in April. Stay tuned for the final verdict.

PS- If you’d like to learn how to do Central Channel Breathing during yoga (which makes it oh-so-much more powerful), it’s all explained in the Yoga for Divine Alignment membership. Click here for details. The first 30 days are free!

In our current world, it’s hard for many people to even let themselves imagine creating a prosperous, fulfilling, happy, and successful life.

Personally, I believe there's no better time to live a life you love than right now.

My beloved friend and mentor (and internationally renowned success expert),  Debra Poneman has written a powerful e-book where you’ll learn 5 secrets to creating that life.

Debra founded her international success seminar company during one of the most difficult times in her life - she had just had a miscarriage, her marriage was unraveling, she had another major health challenge, she was in a job that was draining her soul, and she was so far beyond broke that broke looked good!

How did she turn it all around? She began studying the works of the great masters of success and prosperity from the last 100 years and had an epiphany... She not only realized she had been looking for success in all the wrong places but she’d been doing all the wrong things.

In her e-book The 5 Secrets to a Life of True Success, she shares what she discovered and offers a new paradigm and fresh angle on what success really is and the steps to achieve it.

Be sure to check out the story in Chapter 2 where Debra tells about the time she broke her foot and sprained her other ankle two days before one of the most important presentations of her life and how she turned the pain into one of her greatest successes–and how you can do the same.

***When you download Debra’s e-book, you’ll then be invited to attend her free live webinar, 7 Keys to Break Through Limits and Live Your Ultimate Life. (Which is so good!)

While traveling to BC, I had some downtime which I used to make a playlist of my favourite songs. It’s so funny listening to it now because every song that comes on, I say, “Oh! I love this one!”

Here’s a selection from my new playlist.

U2 takes up a large percentage of the list and in high school, I spent many an hour listening to this song on repeat (on my new CD player!).

I love the passion, the layering of sounds and how it makes me feel so filled up with goodness.

All I Want Is You is my pick for this week’s Song of the Week. I recommend singing along loudly once you know the words and then flailing around exuberantly. Very satisfying.
