Do You Do This Too?

Me: Crying to my family because I’m doing so much and can’t take on one other thing. I need help!

Also Me: I think it’s time to relaunch my podcast!

Also Me: Yes, I can take on that new project for sure!

Maybe you do this too in your own way. Or maybe it’s just me. At any rate, I was wondering, “How does this happen?”

(Bewildered dog moment.)

Here are my musings.

1- I think it happens because we need to find the edge of our capacity in order to rein things back in. Expansion (which is our souls’ ultimate purpose) isn’t linear. It’s more of an out and in scenario.

2- It also happens (at least for me) when I follow my heart. I used to make mostly mind-based decisions but now my choices have moved more into a heart-based experience. If my heart says yes, I do my best to follow that guidance, even if (and especially) if it doesn’t make logical sense.

3- When you cultivate a favourable experience with time, you can trust that time will give you gifts. As has been my experience, even though it didn’t make much sense to take on two new major projects, I’ve received unexpected gifts of time that have allowed me to accomplish more than I initially thought I could, with less stress.

Also, some things have cleared out which an older version of myself would have worried about but the newer version of me just says, “Thank you for listening Universe! I’m so happy to let that thing go.”

4- Lastly, it’s an opportunity for self-love. If a decision ends up being what feels like a “wrong” one, the old pattern (at least for me) would be to say something like, “What was I thinking? I’m a total idiot! That was such a terrible choice.”

Rather than beat yourself up, it could be a chance to pour in some love by saying something to yourself like, “Oh, I am so adorable. Look how I thought I was superwoman! Oops! Duly noted, I’ve learned my lesson.”

Hopefully that’s helpful for you :) May you have a week filled with self-love, heart-based decisions and loads of extra time.

With adoring love and broadening courage,

Many years ago, we decided to say goodbye to kleenex and hello to hankies. I’m telling you: One of the best decisions ever. I love our hankies. My favourites are the fleece ones.

A few reasons I love hankies so:

  • We never spend money on kleenex (although I think my father-in-law feels sorry for us. Sometimes when he comes over, he randomly brings a box of kleenex and leaves it).
  • Our noses never get red and irritated from kleenex (fleece is so much nicer).
  • Way less dust in our house. (Have you ever pulled a kleenex from a box in the sunlight? OMG. So much dust.)
  • It’s a small but also significant contribution to Mother Nature. Consider how many boxes and kleenexes aren’t getting thrown away over a lifetime.
  • In a way, it’s kind of romantic and old-fashioned, especially if I’m having a cry and my husband offers me his handkerchief. Love that.

Hankies. Try them! You might love them too.

On Father’s Day just passed, after a very intense experience of going with the flow, we ended up watching Tangled. We weren’t upset; we love that movie! One of the parts I love the most is the romantic song I See the Light. The tune, the voices, the lyrics and the visuals of the paper lanterns lighting up the night sky… It’s just so dreamy and epic.

And so I would love to share it with you. Perhaps, like me, you won’t be able to refrain from singing along (with glorious passion).
